To Every Woman at That Time of Your Life
By Olivia C. Rossi, RN, MSN, ACSM
Your Personal Trainer:
I recently came across this poem I wrote when I was going through that time of my life. With apologies to Dr. Seuss, and my sympathies to all of you who are just getting there or are in the midst of it right now, sometimes all you can do is get out the fan and laugh!
ODE TO A HOT FLASH
I think I’m hot
And then I’m not
I’m hot again
Oh, no, I am
I’m hot, I am
I am, I am
I do not like
The way I am.
If I could feel
The way I was
I would not feel
The way I am
I’m hot,
I’m not,
I got so hot
I drenched my cot!
This is not fun
The way I feel
I ought not have to
Be so hot
Maybe if I bought
A yacht
And sailed to sea
I would not be
So awfully hot.
I’m hot, I am
I’m burning hot
I am, I am
I cannot help the
Way I am
But I will wait
Because I know
I will not always
Be this way.
Yours in fitness,
Olivia
I’m sure Dr. Seuss is smiling. Too cute for words, and yet so true. I’m going to have to share this with other “hot” friends.

If Dr. Suess had a wife, he would be laughing even more.

I cannot wait
Oh, no I can’t
Until this stops!
I hope it’s soon,
Oh, yes I do,
Cause if it’s not,
I think I’ll cry,
I’m so tired of not being dry.
