The worst story to come out of Fourth of July weekend.

July 7, 2008

By Evergreen,

In Washington, a woman was arrested last Saturday after failing a roadside alcohol sobriety test with a blood alcohol level of .25 percent.  She had four children in the car ranging from a toddler to a teenager.  In addition to a packed vehicle of passengers she was towing a U-Haul trailer.  She was placed in jail and faces a DUII charge and four charges of child endangerment.

The Fourth of July holiday is one of the rare holidays where people are more likely to say “be safe from fire” than the traditional “drive safely”.   Leave it to the irresponsible people to keep drunk driving a full year round danger risk.   This woman failed to realize that she put a total of five people in danger in her own car even if she never was a risk to anyone else on the road.

If that is the worst thing to happen this weekend we should count our blessings that no one was hurt.

Oh I disagree. I think we have four kids who are hurt. Having to watch their mom being carted away by police. I feel sorry for the police, especially when they have to take custody of an infant. Who is trained for that? That is just not a pretty site.

Sadly as it may seem, I am sure these officers escort children out all thw time. I suspect that they even have a stash of teddy bears in their patrol car for such occassions. A cop will tell you that they see very sad things all the time and nothing seems new.

I have to add one thing. The Fourth of July was on Friday and she got caught drinking and driving on Saturday. Two days of celebration?

Also shows the police are out monitoring the roads even after major holidays.
