Because it sneaks up on you! You may organize a zillion summer activities, but when it hits it hits and you find yourself having to improvise for the between time that you did not plan for.

If it sneaks up on you, it may have to do with Memorial Day. This day always comes with much fanfare. Once you are done you find yourselves with only 10 days to spare until the kids are thrust on your doorstep. Just when you adjust you have the 4th of July train bearing down on you next.

The ultimate answer: Summer camp!

Summer camp? No, summer school, is is much longer than summer camp and you do not have to worry about your kids being eaten by bears.

Putting kids in a stuffy classroom during hot sunny summer days is cruel. They are not learning. Do not forget that the cost of summer school keeps rising. So you are paying money for nothing. My solution is grandparents out of state.

Remove last minute school projects or the scramble to do extra credit to get the grades up and stress levels would drop to about a 1 from a 10. Love those online grade reports that our school has. Let’s me know week in and out if there is any late papers and the grade in every class. Who every invented that deserves a gold medal.
